My friend with benefits from a previous post (a different kind of sleepover) cancelled at the last minute, like he so often does, and I'm done.
I moved all kinds of plans around so he could stay the weekend. First he was coming Friday, then Saturday morning, then Saturday evening, then this morning he said maybe he doesn't feel like coming to London after all, then after lunch phoned and said he was just leaving now, then 2 hours later messaged and said he didn't feel well and wasn't coming at all.
I asked what was wrong, he said he felt panicky and anxious. I asked if he was ok and if he gets this a lot because he's never mentioned anxiety in the 9 months we've known each other. He didn't reply but I can see he's been messaging people during the rest of the day. Honestly I just don't believe him.
I was planning a long weekend for Brighton Pride with another friend. We changed it to one night to fit him in, and then when he decided to go and stay with other friends instead and not even see us it was too late to book anything. The exact same thing happened with Manchester Pride. Any plans we make there's a 1 in 3 chance he'll follow through, depending on if he feels like it or gets a better offer on the day. He invited me to a wedding as his date and then forgot he'd even mentioned it.
I'm not blind to mental health. One of my closest friends has anxiety and cancels at short notice. It's fine. But in this case I'm sure he's lying.
It's a shame because he sees me in so many ways. I'll never forget our first date where he was picking out dresses that would suit me.
I'm submissive, not an absolute mug. So this is the last time. My other friends and I treat each other with respect and stick to our commitments and words.
Now I have a vacancy for someone better.
