I was chatting with one of the members on this site and I referred to us as gurls. She took offense to that term. She subscribes to the term girls. We discussed further. I offered that I use it to differentiate us from cis females. She suggested why should there be a differentiation? Do we not strive to be as feminine as possible as much as cis women? And in some cases we are more feminine than some cis women. Lord knows I've seen women that dress more masculine than feminine. Long story short, I acknowledged that the term gurl does carry some connotation of lesser than. As if we are not good enough to garner the full acceptance of our femininity. I'm still on the fence on which I prefer but now I understand that I shouldn't just assume. Our pursuit of our femininity is quite nuanced and unique to each individual.

I pose this question to the community, to which term do you subscribe? What are your thoughts about the terms? I eagerly look forward to reading your responses.

I have pondered on this point and like you I have to sit on the fence. While there are obvious differences between us and sis women, does not the term 'gurls' imply yet another level of disparity within the lbg'T'q+ etc. community. Whereever we see ourselves on the non-binary spectrum, we all want acceptance within the larger society. Do we really need to further sub categorize?

I never subscribed to labels. Since young I have been myself, enjoying the beauty before me. As I aged tried to fit in with queer, bi, gayish or all of the above. Now a days I feel like a woman inside but reality sets in and biologically I can't change. Being called gurl and calling myself gurl now is perfect. Gurl is a tag I wear and accept as it differentiates me from the cis sisters.

I’m happy to be called a gurl as that’s what I feel I am.

I'm a Gurl as I don't have the biological necessities to be otherwise.

I fall into the “girl” camp but take no offense to those who use “girl” or refer to me as such. I may, if developing a friendship, point out I prefer girl.
I’m not very hung on terminology however I will honor another’s wishes.
I will say- I spend most of my socializing time in “mainstream” rather than LQBTQ++ (abbreviated, hope that doesn’t offend) establishments because there are so few of the latter and most of my friends are the former. I REALLY do appreciate when non- LGBTQ++ peeps refer to me as her or she- being referred to as “he” when I’m dressed sexier than your girlfriend makes me feel lesser (maybe that’s the reason for it).
What’s the Pussy Cat song lyric?- don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me Smile :

Interesting question, I don't have strong opinions, but it feels like Gurls is more a CD or Sissy submissive play term, without gender dysphoria and happy being a male in everyday life; whereas Girl (or Trans Girl) is much more appropriate and supportive for anyone who struggling with dysphoria and/or being female in everyday life, so it's probably the kindest... x

I like to be one of the girl's (which isn't often) as much as possible. However in reality I'm more guy/gurl as my partner isn't comfortable with me being too feminine, plus every day life doesn't allow me to indulge as much as I'd like!

So to answer your question;
I don't mind either term, I certainly wouldn't take offence being referred to as one or the other.
However I can only imagine that someone who puts a great deal of effort into being feminine 24/7 would want to be considered as a girl....

That's my take on things but obviously I don't speak for everybody!
