Learning to overcome loneliness

When I first moved out into world on my own I was dealing with waves of loneliness. I had a comfortable home life but I needed to go out into the world as Rose. I remember my first night alone in my apartment, I couldn't stand the silence and stillness of the night. I think I phoned my girlfriend every hour just to get reassurance that I made the right choice to move out on my own.

I went shopping everyday I think just to keep myself busy and create my comfortable space of furniture and things that brought me peace. I found simple things that made me happy, a really good bed and really good sheets and blankets, so when I would crawl into my bed with my nightie and messy hair I could sleep. I slept with my fan on for the first month just to have that white noise to calm my fears of all the strange noises of the night

I found a good full length mirror for my viewing and a good makeup mirror. I must of bought every kind of makeup just for me to play with when I was bored. I bought a lot of second hand clothes just so I could try on something different and try new styles of fashion. After awhile I was happy to go home to eat what I wanted and for me to relax and do what I wanted safely and privately.

My sister and my girlfriend got me through those first few steps into my new life on my own. As much anxiety I had in the beginning it was a valuable lesson to overcoming fear and loneliness as a CD in the world. So just reach out to your friend of family when you first start out into the world as the new you.

Such a wonderful story! Cannot imagine how much courage you would have to be able to move out in female mode. You still made it despite all!!
