I think the vast majority of MTF girls do want to go public but I bet only a small percentage actually do it. It is a great idea to join a Cross Dressers club if there is one in your vicinity and we are lucky to have one where I live. That makes it a natural to go out as some of the girls are totally comfortable in going public en femme as a group. At the same time many are not comfortable being in public en femme. I don't know what the difference is and why that happens but it does and I cannot attribute it to a bad experience cuz that just doesn't happen, at least here. Also some of those that are reluctant to go public are well experienced girls and have been club members for a long time, much longer than yours truly. So I don't know. MTF CDing is still controversial in some circles

That said, if you are inexperienced I don't think I would go to a bar alone (see the video "We Exist" on YouTube by Canadian band Arcade Fire, it is very cool). "Down on your knees, beggin us please, sayin; we don't exist. We Exist." Yes MTF Cross Dressers, we exist. In numbers too big to ignore?????? (Apologies to Helen Reddy.) Where boys drinking alcohol are concerned I would make sure you have like minded company with you. We go to a gay/CD friendly bar (and certain others) but there are usually 4, 5 or 6 of us en femme and we swing big purses LOL. Besides, the gay guys are not going to hit on us although some are certainly friendly in a brotherly way. Outside on the street is a very different matter.

In all this I think the message is just be a little cautious. MTF guys just wanna have fun too as do real girls. There is strength in numbers so try to find a friend or two to go to the pub with. I know of one friend here on CCD who was severely beaten for being en femme (nothing related to CCD) - just be cautious as you are out on the town en femme. You have to remember that cis-women are often targets of harrassment by some men and you will probably look so good you could be a target as well. Just be cautious.
