It's been such a long time since the last time that I wrote something, that I thought I'd give it another try. This time I'd like to share something that is close to my heart. Perhaps, it is so close to my heart that it is a part of me and who I am.

Recently after many years of loving to wear dresses, especially with tights, I decided I needed to try skirts and tops, outfits that match, outfits that don't match and a plethora of separates too.

The thing is that I rather liked the idea of a skirt and so, to be sure, I decided on trying elasticated waist skirts. The idea was that I wanted to have everyday things I can wear easily at home, and my gosh, I soon found that nothing is easier for everyday wear that an elasticated waist skirt! For me the length was also important as it had to have the hem below the knees but not any lower than my ankles. My hunt for such skirts took me to various places on the internet, and that infamous auction site. So, four complete outfits, three skirts and a small variety of tops later I found myself suitably equipped for being an "everyday girl".

There was just one thing missing though, shoes! I needed shoes. I have always loved heels so heels were a must. I also had a hankering for some flats too. the flats I wanted were shiny sparkly toe post flip flop kind of thing going on. I also love mules and slingbacks, so I set off looking for heeled mules with toe posts as my main objective. After a little searching I found a pink pair of such sandals, heeled with toe posts which came up in a search on that very same auction site and in my size too (I'm a size UK 8 if the truth be told). I bought them. Subsequently I found some of the most lovely shiny, sparkly, and jewelled flip flops ever. I think my haul was about 6 pairs of those in gold, black, diamante and in a mixture of flats and wedge heels. I also found a few pairs of diamante strappy slingback and mules. Bought those too! about four pairs in all.

Here is the thing about shoes. I try to go for style and elegance in my shoes, however I don't wear court shoes or enclosed toe shoes, I just simply wear sandals, peep toe or open toe. Occasionally I have ordered shoes that are too wide for me, I just look at my size and don't take into account the width. Shoes too wide or too big create a set of problems that i think I have overcome.

My problem was how to keep the shoes on that slip off too easily. Well, I did some research and found that the answer was hairspray! I thought that was a great tip. Now, that made sense because essentially hairspray is a glue for ones hair but it also works very well if you spray a little onto the insoles of your shoes it sticks your feet to the shoes enough for them not to slip off. However, its not without problems once dried it does leave a residue behind but should clean of and it doesn't work with tights or stockings. If you value the shoes you wear then don't try it.

It works for me as I often like to wear my heel and it was becoming a pain when some that I have kept slipping off. well, they don't now!
