My gender status/identity is complex and nuanced, but I have always described myself as a Transvestite.
While in no way does that one word cover what I am, there are many reasons why i choose to predominantly use it, some are as follows:
i) I hate the term Crossdresser - It makes it sound as if it is some kind of a hobby. Now, for may that may be true, but for me it isnt a hobby.
ii) I am of an age where that was the word i grew up with
iii) I just like the word, the way it glides off the tongue
iv) It has become taboo with a certain quarter of trans activists that I am happy to rile
v) It's Latin, innit

I grew up with the same we were known as transvestites or tranny’s for short. It’s just a name change. Now that trans has been taken over by the gender changers. We are called crossdresser’s I was never cross when I dressed I was always very happy or I always got the happy ending. In the early 70’s it was against the law to be homosexual or now gay because they are happy it’s legal name change.
Nice blog Tanya..and lovely Profile pic....If you wanna chat please call me .X
Tanya makes an awesome point. Maybe we should use transvestite to describe us.
I'm not over bothered with pigeon holes but like yourself if I have to then tranvestite suits me fine. Great blog, attitude and profile. x
I like the word 'transvestite' too.
Tanya. Hello. My name is Emma. And like you, transvestite is a way to describe ourselves although, as you say, the word doesn't cover everything about girls like ourselves. At best it is the proverbial foot in the door. We are girls and I don't think I need to explain anything else. I love your attitude and you look lovely in your pictures. X. Best wishes to you, Emma xx
