My First Convention (Lake Erie Gala)

In 1999 I finally made the decision to attend a cross-dressing convention/event. I was in my mid-40s and had wanted to attend one for a while. I did a lot of online searching and picked Lake Erie Gala in northwest Pennsylvania. I didn’t know a soul there, so it would be totally safe to go out, right? Well, I was still scared to leave my Holiday Inn hotel room, but I did (some girls don't) and had a wonderful time. It was thrilling to be out, even if the first get together was The Zone, a gay bar across the street. The event was small. I’d say only 20 CDs and a few wives or girlfriends attended. Nonetheless, the gala was a big step for me. The event was run by the Erie Sisters and, as it turns out, there is a also group of Benedictine nuns in town called the Erie Sisters. Just a word of caution: if you ever get invited to an Erie Sisters event in the future, be sure to double check the invitation.Those nuns can party!
