The following year I helped Lisa, the Lake Erie Gala chairwoman, with putting together the event brochure and some planning, among other things. Like any organization, the bulk of the work is done by a few people. And so this Florida girl ended up becoming co-chairwoman for the next four or five years. Before I stopped going to Erie and moved on to other events, the gala had grown to attract 100 girls every year. So proud of that. I helped market the event writing about it for a transgender magazine. By then I was also editing the Erie Sisters newsletter and maintaining its website. I very much enjoyed being able to contribute. Years later, I still keep in contact with some folks I met in Erie, and am glad to see that the Erie Sisters are still going strong!
