Hi my lovely’s..well it’s bitter cold here in the north east of England..we’ve had a bit of snow..it’s nothing compared to other countries of course but seeing the snow fall today unlocked a memory that made me chuckle to myself..in my late teens..early twenty’s I was out every Saturday night without fail…back then I was a metal head…still am..leather jacket..heavy metal T-shirt the lot and Vicky was a far off dream…one very winterly evening I was on the bus heading into the snow covered town of Newcastle..the bus had to travel up a very famous street called Grey street which is very steep more or less a 45 degree angle(the local girls will know how steep it is lol).

Anyway the bus was fine going up the street as the road had been salted but it was pandemonium outside..there were people literally sliding down the street on the pavements!.

In all the chaos my attention was caught by a group of “lasses”..trying to get up the steep bank but struggling. The lady’s were dressed in traditional winter wear for the north of England at this time of year..high heels/mini skirts/sleeveless blouses and the make up was on point even though it was below freezing lol.

One lady thought enough was enough and decided to lead the “climb”..see hung on to the outsides of the buildings and started to dig her stilettos into the ice and snow like an mountain climber using crampons hahah..slowly but surely the lady’s started to make progress hand in hand fierce as anything like they were reaching the top of Mount Everest but by then my bus had past them and they faded into the snow and sleet.

As you can tell that little display had an effect on me not just because I loved what they were wearing of course but the sheer determination of these typical Geordie lasses because nothing not even Mother Nature was going to spoil there “Night oot!”
