I've been properly 'crossdressing' for 2 months and been going out ONLY in my fem clothes for the last month. My advice would be to try places with person-to-person customer services like the chemists and shops and post office to see how you and they interact. Bit daunting at first but it can be a really enjoyable and supportive experience. x
